This week we are reading Gordon’s Great Escape. When you have joined in reading the story I want you to write your own escape. Where would you go if you were allowed to go anywhere. What would happen? Click on the book to watch the class reading it.
We have been looking at We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Look at last week’s work to see the video of it. Now that you know the story well, try and make your own hunt around your home… what do you have to get through? Under the bed? Through your brother’s room? What noises do you hear and what treasure do you find at the end? Could you draw your treasure and a map of your journey?
This week you are going to learn a game the adults in your house played when they were your age. See if you can learn one and share it with your friends when you get back.
Here is a game my mum taught me.
First draw dots on a page like this:
Then you take it in turns to join any two dots that are next to each other with one line like this:
When you see that a box is almost made you can put the last line in and your initial in the box to show it is yours. You then get another line to draw, like this:
The winner is the person who has caught the most boxes.
This week we are looking at shapes. I would like you to go around your home finding things that are different shapes. Start with:
square triangle rectangle circle
pentagon pentagon
Once you find lots of objects share them into two boxes with one of each shape in each box. Then you can play shape races with someone else in your house. Who can run to the box and collect the right shape first?
When you know your shapes really well try finding 3D shapes to play your game again.
cube cuboid cylinders spheres
We are starting a new topic this week. All the information you need is in the video. Click on the book to get started.
This term we are going to look at stories by the famous author Michael Rosen. Here he is reading one of his most famous stories. See if you can learn it to join in and tell the story to your family.
Cosmic Kids have taken the story to help us to do some exercise with it. Try this!
This week’s challenge is to make or bake something. Maybe you have been doing lots of cooking while you have been at home or maybe this could be a new adventure for you!
When you have made something, try writing the recipe down so that we can share our ideas and try new things. Even if your recipe is from a book or the internet it can be fun to write it out yourself. Mine is from a book called Leon by Allegra McEvedy.
I have enjoyed making Sweet Potato Falafel. I like eating them in a wrap with salad and mango chutney.
Here is my recipe and a photo of some of the falafel…. they are a different shape to usual but that doesn’t really matter!
