Literacy for Reception week beginning 11th May

For the next few weeks we are going to look at Jack and the Beanstalk. We will look at a few versions and have some writing tasks to do at home.

I have split the story into two parts so that you can talk about what has happened so far and what you think might happen. The first part of the story is on the left…

and the second is on the right.

This week we are focussing on retelling the story. Choose 1 or 2 of these ideas or make your own. Make sure you include some writing!

  • make a story map
  • act it out with people in your home
  • make stick puppets to help you retell it
  • write the story out making sure you get it in the right order.

Here are some word mats to help you. You can download and print your own on www.twinkl.co.uk

There are lots of other fun Jack and the Beanstalk activities to try. Maybe you could plant your own bean, or create a beanstalk with Lego or old boxes. Don’t forget to email in your work or upload it to my.eexat.com
